Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a tool that is used to access your sub-conscious, where your memories, emotions and perceptions are located. Many fears, phobias and emotional concerns can be retrieved and dealt with while you are in a relaxed, natural state of conscious awareness (hypnotic trance).
All Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis
Through the media and stage shows, the nature of hypnotherapy has been represented as entertainment rather than the successful therapy tool that it is. Unlike the image of people dancing across the stage as common barn yard animals, the true nature of hypnotherapy is all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. We all experience a form of hypnosis or natural trance everyday, whether it is while reading a book, watching TV, daydreaming or driving. We all experience a natural shift in our awareness, a relaxed state where time passes without our being aware of it.
Despite what the entertainers would have you believe, while in a hypnotic trance you are not asleep, nor unconscious. You are able to hear and respond to the therapist's questions and easily remember all that happens during the session. You are in control of the information that you disclose. You cannot be made to reveal information nor be made to do anything that is un-natural to you while hypnotized.
